2012 RHABA Flat & Fast 10K | Rural Hall, North Carolina ...

The 6th annual RHABA 10K for 2012 will feature a USAT&F certified course (same as the past four years with one minor improvement). As in 2011, we will once again reserve the entire eastbound lane of Hwy 65 for runners (both directions). Course changes were re-certified. After 3 short hills, the remainder of the certified course is flat and very fast with deputy escorts and course marshals at every turn. The fastest runner in 2009 finished in 32.43 min. & the best time in 2010 was 34.47.

CHARITY RUN: All race profits go to Rural Hall Elementary School (no limit)! Saturday, October 20, 2012 @ 8:00 AM with a one mile family Fun Run @ 10:00 AM. Awards: Trophies for the best 3 Male & the best 3 Female times (total of 6). Gold, Silver, & Bronze Medals for the top 3 Males & top 3 Females in each of 10 Age Groups not receiving a trophy (total of 54). T-Shirts for all pre-registered runners and for walk-ups as supplies last! Medals for the first 3 finishers in the 1 mile Fun Run and awards for the best 3 costumes! Photos of runners will be available for later purchase.

10K Fees: Early-registration: $25.00 by mail or online by Oct 16, $30 for walk up registration on race day 1 Mile Fun Run: $5 per person or $10 per family, teachers and coaches are free, 10K participants are free)

There will be 2 water stations for runners going each direction for a total of 4 passes. Safety officials will staff all intersections, giving runners the right of way over traffic. Race volunteers will call out interim course times at mile markers along the way. Twin City Track Club from Winston Salem, NC will officiate the start/finish line and will post official times on their web site. A family one mile Fun Run will follow at 10am (with children in halloween costume if desired).

Directions From Winston-Salem, NC: Take Highway 52 North toward Mt Airy, take exit 118 (Hwy 65) at Rural Hall, NC and turn right into the Mayflower Restaurant parking lot before you get to the end of the exit ramp. From Rural Hall or points north, use the northbound exit ramp from Hwy 52, which doubles as Montroyal Rd to access the parking lot for Mayflower Seafood Restaurant (655 Montroyal Rd, Rural Hall). Walk Up Registration for 10K: Walk up registration is available for the 10K at the event site on Oct. 20 beginning at 6:15am until 7:45am for $30. T-shirts will be given as supplies last. Teachers, School Staff, and Coaches are free with school ID and must use mail in or walk-up registration because there is no way to register online without payment. Early registration is $25 prior to Oct 16 with no online registration fee.

1 Mile Fun Run: The Fun Run starts at 10am. Online registration is not available. Pre-registration is done at the Rural Hall Elementary School, town hall, or walk up registration is open to the public from 8:15am to 9:45am. Cost is $5 per person and $10 per family. Teachers, School Staff, and Coaches are free with school ID. Participants are invited to run, walk, or roll with optional costumes. Medals will be given to the top three finishers and an award will be given for the best costume.
